Odyessy of the Mind DONATIONS NEEDED!!!

Some of you had these kids as students:

Shelby Osborne, Hali Fisher, Rosie Kettelle-Daily, Jessica Geiger, Savana Wright, Ashley Ramirez

They are ALL from Raymond B. Stewart Middle School

Odyssey of the Mind

ZHS Odyssey of the Mind Team (formed at Stewart in 7th/8th grade) qualifies for the Odyssey World Competition in Iowa!

This is the first time in 22 years that ZHS has a team going to World!

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

The Team also received the highest honor (given to only 8 teams in the state this year) at the Florida State competition: The Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award represents the essence of the Odyssey of the Mind. It is presented to teams or individuals who exhibit exceptional creativity, either through some aspect of their problem solution, or an extraordinary idea beyond the problem solution. The award is a way to acknowledge and encourage creative thinking and risk-

If you don't know about Odyssey of the Mind, just "Google it" to find out about the history. It definitely encompasses all of the things you want your kids to be learning and doing in everyday life. To "think outside the box" and find solutions to problems and to think on their feet and build better mouse traps, is what Odyssey OTM is about.

We are all so excited to go on this adventure, but we need a whole lot of money in a very, very short period of time!
Like, Nine to Ten Thousand Dollars!

The girls are out "beating the streets" for donations. They are going to do a couple of car washes before they go. They also have two golf tournaments we are trying to schedule and maybe a couple of performances of their winning "skit". We will give you details about these events as soon as we work them out.

In the meantime, we are asking for help from our community.

If we ask 1,000 people for a $10 donation, we would have the money we need to get there (and back).
If any of you can help with a donation, we would greatly appreciate it. We do not mind if it's a little bit or more, we just need help!

Today we received a $100 check from one of Judy Schiavo's friends. Thanks Judy! I also got a $100 donation from Mr. Jerry Pricher. We are on our way!

All checks should be made payable to Zephyrhills High School with "Odyssey" in the memo section.
